Rachel Cohen is a GIA Graduate Gemologist with extensive diamond appraising experience in New York and Vancouver. If you’d like an expert opinion on how much your diamonds are worth, book your free appointment with Rachel. Your diamonds will be graded on the spot, and you’ll be made an offer without any obligation or pressure to sell.
At Canada Gold, we recommend an appointment with our GIA Gemologist for diamonds over a 1/4 carat in size. We buy: diamond engagement rings, diamond bracelets, diamond earrings and other jewelry, as well as loose diamonds. We don’t currently buy raw (uncut) , fracture filled, or man made (lab created) diamonds.
If you’re wanting an idea of what your diamonds are worth, we also offer phone estimates. However for a more accurate appraisal, we request you make an appointment ahead of time to see our GIA graduate diamond buyers, Rachel or Raj. If you have a certificate for your diamond, please bring it with you, if not, Rachel or Raj will gladly assess any uncertified stones.
Rachel is available for appointments on Wednesday and Fridays and the last Saturday of every month at our Vancouver location, and Thursdays at our Surrey location. Please call Vancouver at 604-876-4653 or Surrey at 604-582-4653 to set up an appointment or to talk with our GIA trained buyer.
At our Calgary location, our GIA Graduate Gemologist Raj, is available for appointments on Tuesdays. Please call our NW Calgary location at 403-282-8877 to set up an appointment, or to speak with our GIA trained buyer.
How much are my diamonds worth?
The value of diamonds is determined by the four Cs: Carat, Colour, Clarity, and Cut. Watch short videos on each of the four Cs to understand how your diamonds will be graded:
With our GIA graduate diamond buyer on site, you will be involved in every step of this assessment process. Rachel will appraise your diamonds on the spot and help you understand the characteristics of your diamond, so you can be confident in your purchase offer.
Diamond prices are complex, and there are several factors that determine payouts. In most cases, we cannot pay the “appraised” value for your diamond. When purchasing a new piece of jewelry, you will often receive an insurance appraisal for a higher value than what you paid. It isn’t a surprise, then, that used jewelry sells for less than this appraisal. We will objectively assess your gemstones, show you our pricing calculations, and make an excellent offer.
For used diamonds, we will generally offer up to 50% of a reasonable retail (new) price, depending on the stone. To see what a new GIA graded diamond is selling for at retail, we suggest checking out the site pricescope.com (or just give us a call!)
