Les cinq \u00e9tapes de l'affinage des m\u00e9taux : Du minerai au m\u00e9tal pur<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La Monnaie royale canadienne affine son or en suivant ces cinq \u00e9tapes :<\/p>\n

1. Pr\u00e9fusion<\/p>\n

Des barres Dor\u00e9 d'une puret\u00e9 allant de 5% \u00e0 95% sont fondues dans un four. Des \u00e9chantillons sont pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s sur l'or fondu pour d\u00e9terminer sa puret\u00e9.<\/p>\n

2. Chloration<\/p>\n

Du chlore gazeux est inject\u00e9 dans le m\u00e9lange de m\u00e9taux en fusion. Tous les m\u00e9taux, \u00e0 l'exception de l'or, flottent \u00e0 la surface pour former une scorie de chlorure fondu. L'or fin 995 qui en r\u00e9sulte est vers\u00e9 dans un moule d'anode.<\/p>\n

3. D\u00e9moulage<\/p>\n

De la soude est ajout\u00e9e au laitier de chlorure fondu r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 lors de la chloration. La r\u00e9action provoque l'accumulation de particules d'or dans un \"bouton\" d'alliage argent-or qui se d\u00e9pose au fond du creuset.<\/p>\n

4. L'\u00e9lectrolyse<\/p>\n

Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 permet d'obtenir un or d'une puret\u00e9 de 9999. L'anode d'or est plac\u00e9e dans un bain contenant une solution d'acide chlorhydrique et de chlorure d'or. L'anode est ensuite soumise \u00e0 un courant \u00e9lectrique. L'anode se dissout et l'or dissous se d\u00e9pose sur une cathode en titane. Les impuret\u00e9s (principalement de l'argent) tombent au fond de la cellule ou forment des chlorures solubles.<\/p>\n

5. Versement final<\/p>\n
