Mais la densit\u00e9, les bijoux plaqu\u00e9s or et les mesures de poids en centimes peuvent pr\u00eater \u00e0 confusion et conduire \u00e0 un mauvais classement des karats pour la puret\u00e9. Que signifie tout cela, me direz-vous ? Ne vous inqui\u00e9tez pas des flashbacks effrayants des cours de math\u00e9matiques. Nous allons vous expliquer comment d\u00e9terminer la teneur en or pur de n'importe quel poids en carats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Qu'est-ce qu'une once de Troie ?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L'once Troy est une unit\u00e9 de poids utilis\u00e9e pour les m\u00e9taux pr\u00e9cieux, tels que l'or, l'argent, le platine et le palladium. Une once Troy \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 31,103 g. L'once de Troie ne doit pas \u00eatre confondue avec l'once \"Avoirdupois\", qui est de 28,35 g. Cette majoration, qui varie souvent de 2 \u00e0 10 fois la valeur du m\u00e9tal pr\u00e9cieux, permet de payer les frais du fabricant de bijoux, du grossiste, les d\u00e9penses du magasin de d\u00e9tail, les salaires et la marge b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire. Lorsqu'un bijou est recycl\u00e9 pour sa teneur en m\u00e9taux pr\u00e9cieux, le recycleur (comme Canada Gold) paie un pourcentage de la teneur en m\u00e9taux pr\u00e9cieux. Chez Canada Gold, nous payons de 80% (pour les pi\u00e8ces affin\u00e9es) \u00e0 110%+ (pour les pi\u00e8ces r\u00e9utilisables). Au cours des 20 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le prix de l'or a augment\u00e9 de plus de 500%, passant de $250 en 2001 \u00e0 $1500+ en 2020. Il est int\u00e9ressant de noter qu'un bijou en or contient en fait de l'or \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur et qu'il est rempli de laiton. Par d\u00e9finition, une pi\u00e8ce \"14k G.F.\" contient 95% de laiton et un placage \u00e9pais et durable de 14kg d'or, repr\u00e9sentant 5% du poids total de la pi\u00e8ce.  Par cons\u00e9quent, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu'elle contient 5% de son poids d'or 14kt, la pi\u00e8ce contient 2,91% d'or pur en poids. Une pi\u00e8ce marqu\u00e9e RG ou RGP contient un m\u00e9tal de base 95% (par exemple, du laiton ou du cuivre), avec une couche ext\u00e9rieure d'or, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement d'une puret\u00e9 de 14 ou 18 carats. Une pi\u00e8ce poin\u00e7onn\u00e9e \"1\/20 18k RG\", par exemple, contient 3,75% d'or pur en poids (ce qui ne vaut g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas la peine d'\u00eatre affin\u00e9).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Combien valent mes bijoux plaqu\u00e9s or ?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un bijou plaqu\u00e9 or contient une tr\u00e8s fine couche d'or \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur, appliqu\u00e9e par un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique.  C'est pourquoi cette technique peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre appel\u00e9e \"\u00e9lectro-dorage\", et ces pi\u00e8ces portent un poin\u00e7on GP ou EGP. L'\u00e9paisseur de la couche d'or est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 1 micron (moins de 1\/1000<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> d'un mm !). Le placage a tendance \u00e0 s'effacer et la pi\u00e8ce contient moins de quelques centimes d'or.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Comment calculer la densit\u00e9 de l'or\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L'or est l'un des m\u00e9taux les plus denses, avec une densit\u00e9 de 19,32 g par cm cube.  Cela signifie qu'un volume d'or est 19,32 fois plus lourd que le m\u00eame volume d'eau. Le plomb, que toute personne ayant subi une radiographie dentaire conna\u00eet, est un autre m\u00e9tal tr\u00e8s dense, avec une densit\u00e9 de 11,5 g par cm cube.  \u00c9tonnamment, l'or est 68% plus dense que le plomb. Un iPhone 11 d'Apple a un volume de 87 cm cube.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">et p\u00e8se 188 g. Un lingot d'or de la m\u00eame taille serait presque 9 fois plus lourd (1 680 g) et aurait une valeur en or bien sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 $100 000CAD au cours de l'or de 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Qu'est-ce qu'un Pennyweight ?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le pennyweight est une mesure de poids assez ancienne. Un pennyweight est \u00e9gal \u00e0 1\/20e d'once. Un pennyweight \u00e9quivaut donc \u00e0 1,56 gramme.  De nos jours, l'utilisation la plus courante du pennyweight semble \u00eatre celle d'acheteurs d'or peu scrupuleux qui affichent des prix en pennyweight au lieu de grammes pour faire para\u00eetre les prix plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s.
