加拿大皇家鑄幣廠使用以下五個步驟提煉黃金：
1.預熔
純度從 5% 到 95% 的 Doré 金條在熔爐中熔化。從熔融的黃金中提取浸漬樣本，以確定其純度。
2.氯化
氯氣被注入熔融金屬混合物中。除金以外的所有金屬都會浮到表面，形成熔融氯化物的熔渣。生成的 995 細金被倒入陽極模具中。
3.脫模
蘇打灰被添加到氯化回收的熔融氯渣中。反應會使金微粒聚集成銀金合金「鈕扣」，沉澱在坩鍋底部。
4.電解
此製程可使黃金純度達到 9999。金陽極被放置在含有鹽酸和氯化金溶液的浴槽中。然後將陽極通電。陽極會溶解，溶解的金會附著在鈦陰極上。雜質（主要是銀）會掉落到電池底部或形成可溶性氯化物。
5.最後澆注
9999 精金被鑄成各種尺寸的金條，或變成粒金。
