Chris’s uncle, an experienced investor, taught him about the true value of gold from a young age, helping to shape his understanding of gold as both a collector’s item and an investment.
Chris fondly recalls the story of his uncle celebrating when the price of gold reached $800 an ounce, even purchasing a new car and having a custom license plate made that read “GOLD800” to mark the occasion. This early exposure to the value of gold would go on to influence Chris’s professional journey.
Inspired by his family’s legacy, Chris Pollock started by meeting with customers and personally buying their gold. As he engaged with clients, he quickly recognized a significant need for trustworthy and transparent gold-buying services—something that was sorely lacking in the market. With a vision of providing honest, reliable services, he decided to open the first Canada Gold store, aiming to offer customers the transparency and care they deserved.
As the business grew, Chris’ brothers and cousin Russell Sparks joined him in opening additional stores, expanding the reach of Canada Gold. The company’s commitment to customer service and its reputation for fair, honest dealings fueled its growth, leading to 16 locations today across five provinces and two states.
