A Tribute in Pure Silver: The Royal Cypher Coin

The 2022 $20 Royal Cypher coin is a striking tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign from 1952 to 2022. Finished with black rhodium plating, the design features the Queen’s Royal Cypher, one of the most recognizable symbols of her sovereignty. For generations, this emblem appeared across medals, badges, and official insignia throughout Canada and the Commonwealth. The coin’s design also brings together all four effigies of the Queen that have appeared on Canadian coinage, capturing her journey from a young monarch at her coronation to her Platinum Jubilee. With a limited mintage of just 15,000 pieces, it stands as a lasting tribute to continuity, leadership, and history.

A Look Back: The Coronation Commemorative Coin

The 2013 coloured 25-cent coin celebrates the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Featuring a detailed portrait inspired by the Diamond Jubilee, the design highlights both artistry and historical significance. It reflects not only the moment of coronation in 1953, but also the enduring presence of the monarchy in Canada. Like the Royal Cypher coin, this piece was produced in limited quantities, making it a unique collectible for those who appreciate both history and design.

Honouring a Historic Legacy

Born on April 21, 1926, Queen Elizabeth II would have celebrated her 100th birthday in 2026. Her reign, which began in 1952, became the longest in British history, spanning generations of change while maintaining a sense of continuity and stability. Her connection to Canada remains deeply rooted, with her image appearing on coins, stamps, and national symbols for decades. These commemorative coins reflect that legacy, preserving moments of history in a tangible form.
